Winter Schedule
Classes will meet at Jazzercise Haymarket on Wednesday afternoons.
Please contact us if you need help selecting the best class option for your family.
*Parents are not required to stay, but we will need at least one adult to stay with us each week in case an additional set of hands is needed for any reason (this can be the same parent each week or we can arrange a rotation at the first class).
Let's Drum! (Ages 7-10)
Let's Drum! is a multi-age class with a focus on exploring steady beat, rhythm, and community music-making. It is loosely based on the collaborative concept of a drum circle, allowing students with a variety of music backgrounds and abilities to come together to create. Students with less music experience will develop steady beat skills and begin to perform easy rhythms, while older or experienced students will dive into more advanced rhythms and techniques. Students will have the opportunity to practice on a variety of classroom percussion instruments, including large gathering drums, tubano drums, frame drums, bucket drums, and smaller percussion instruments.
Keep the Beat! (ages 5-8)
Students in Keep the Beat! will develop steady beat skills, begin to explore easy rhythms, and develop musicality through song, movement, and classroom percussion instruments. This is a "general music" class that will allow students to explore and learn about music through a wide variety of music-making experiences.
